Biography
Mr. Makanjuola Alabi is the Managing Director of The Lagos State
Signage and Advertisement Agency. He has a Bachelors degree in
International Relations & Politics; and a Bachelors degree in
Law from the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom.
After completing his education at Canterbury; Mr. Alabi attended
the Nigerian Law School in Lagos; where he graduated in 1987. He is
a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Mr. Alabi practiced law at F.O Akinrele & Co from 1987 to
1992. Afterward, he became the Managing Director of Skyview
Cablevision Company Limited, the first provider of cable satellite
television in homes in Nigeria. In 1995, Mr. Alabi joined Carrara
Marble Company, Ltd as the Executive Director; where he was later
promoted to Managing Director due to his hard work and
dedication.
Mr. Alabi was also the Managing Director of Altmedia Limited an
outdoor advertising company with footprints across Nigeria. After
several years in the private sector, Mr. Alabi was inducted to the
public sector in 2006; as the Managing Director of The Lagos State
Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA).
Mr. Alabi's attitude can best be summed up with his favorite
parable,
"the river does not stop flowing just because it
finds a hill in its path; it circumvents the obstructing hill by
going around and continues flowing until it reaches its
destination".
The moral of the parable is clear; do not allow obstacles in
your path.
His hobbies include reading, tennis, travelling and boating. He
is a member of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, the Apapa Boat Club and
the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigerian (APCON). Mr Alabi
is also the president of the Lord Rumens Foundation a non-profit
organization impacting lives in the community. He is also a member
of the Institute of Directors.
