Award for FASHOLA, LASAA at CICAN 'Nite of Excellence'

The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria
(CICAN) honoured the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency
(LASAA) with The Most Outstanding Public Institution of the Year
Award 2010. The event which was the second edition was held on
Thursday, 6th of May, 2010 at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja was called
a Nite of Excellence. It recognized and rewarded outstanding
contributions towards the promotion of commerce and industry in
Nigeria.
The award for Outstanding Performance in Infrastructural
Development and Industrial Growth was won by His Excellency, the
Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola and was received
on his behalf by the Managing Director/CEO of LASAA, Mr Makanjuola
Alabi. In his acceptance speech Mr Makanjuola Alabi thanked the
organisers of the award for finding LASAA and Lagos State to be
worthy of honour. He said we are inspired and encouraged by this
rare honour. This award is a true testimony to our efforts in
turning Lagos into a World Class Mega City, and the support you
have given to our Agency. He dedicated the award to the entire
Agencys staff for their doggedness to the vision and mission of
LASAA.
Other recipients of awards included Dr. John Ndanusa Akanya, the
Director General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria as the
Most Outstanding Public Servant in the Commerce and Industry
sub-sector and Unity Bank plc among others. CICANs membership is
drawn from various media correspondents and reporters all over
Nigeria, covering news and events/activities concerning
manufacturing, commerce and industry. The recipients were
considered by a panel of judges in a painstaking selection process
upon careful assessment of significant contributions by public
institutions, corporate organizations and individuals in Nigeria to
the growth of the real sector and invariably the economy.
